Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026 · Effective upon launch
The short version: Your incident files are yours. We don't sell your data. We don't share your recordings. We don't maintain a public database of anyone. Your video is encrypted, subscriber-owned, and only accessible to you.
What we collect
- Phone number — used for authentication and SMS delivery only
- Incident recordings — video, audio, GPS coordinates, and timestamps captured during active sessions
- AI-generated reports — summaries created from your incident transcripts
- Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never store card data.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not maintain a public registry of individuals captured in incidents
- We do not share your recordings without your explicit consent or a valid legal order
- We do not use your incidents to train AI models without opt-in consent
Recording and consent
HeroWitness detects your state on session activation. In two-party consent states (CA, FL, IL, and others), the AI agent announces that recording is in progress before any footage is saved. You acknowledge this behavior by activating a session.
Data retention
- Witness tier: Video stored for 90 days, then automatically deleted
- Guard + Sentinel: Permanent encrypted storage, deletable by subscriber at any time
- Account data: Retained while account is active; deleted within 30 days of account closure
Law enforcement requests
We comply with valid legal process. If we receive a subpoena or court order for your incident data, we will notify you in advance unless prohibited by law from doing so.
